We started Open Innovation because we believe the best tools are built in the open.

Not open source as a licence checkbox. Open source as a way of working, where the process is as visible as the product, where experimentation happens in public, and where the people who build things are valued more than the things they build.

Why Now

The creative technology space is full of closed tools, proprietary formats, and knowledge locked behind NDAs. Every studio builds the same scaffolding from scratch. Every project rediscovers the same patterns. The wheel gets reinvented behind closed doors, and nobody learns from anybody else's mistakes.

We think there's a better way.

What We're Building

Open Innovation is two things:

A foundation that stewards open-source projects, starting with OpenXP, an open standard for immersive experiences. The foundation provides governance, community, and credibility.

A guild: a co-op of creative technologists, developers, and designers who take on client work together. The tools we build for clients go back into the commons. The foundation makes us credible. We make the foundation sustainable.

What Comes Next

This is Phase 0. We're a small group of people with day jobs who believe in this enough to start. Here's what's ahead:

• OpenXP launches as our founding project under the Open Innovation umbrella
• The guild starts taking on its first projects
• The community grows through GitHub, Discord, and building in public
